Knowing well the production process of brake discs is crucial for both company employees and buyers. Today please allow MIXHY to show you how brake discs are produced.


The production of brake disc can be divided into seven steps.


1. Material Selection

Explanation: Brake rotors are typically made from cast iron, carbon composites, or ceramic materials, chosen for their heat resistance and durability.


2. Casting Process

Molten metal is poured into molds to form the rough shape of the rotor, ensuring structural integrity and balanced weight distribution.


3. Machining

The cast rotor undergoes precision machining (e.g., lathing, drilling) to achieve smooth surfaces, proper thickness, and ventilation channels.


4. Heat Treatment

The rotor is heated and cooled under controlled conditions to enhance hardness, reduce warping, and improve wear resistance.


5. Quality Inspection

Advanced tools like ultrasonic testing or laser scanning verify dimensional accuracy, balance, and absence of internal defects.


6. Surface Coating (Optional)

Explanation: Anti-corrosion coatings (e.g., zinc, ceramic) are applied to protect against rust and extend the rotor's lifespan.


7. Final Assembly & Packaging

Rotors are paired with hardware (e.g., hub assemblies), rigorously cleaned, and packaged for shipment to automotive manufacturers.
